“Rejoice always, pray constantly, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” –1 Thessalonians 5:18

Thanksgiving is TOMORROW. I feel like we literally just gathered as a family recently and sat at the long tables and caught up with one another and ate way too much food.

But yes, it actually has been an entire year since, and it’s time to do it again! My sister and I are hosting this year, for the first time, and I’m excited to have my family over to celebrate the holiday and EAT. (I love food. I am not shy about that fact. Nom.)

As I thought about part three of this Being Thankful Project, I realized that sometimes, we get so caught up in circumstances around us or the things we don’t have, and completely miss the point of simple gratitude for the blessings we take for granted every day: a job, a vehicle, food on the table, breath in your lungs, money to pay the bills- even if it means you barely scraped by this month.

To be thankful, truly, is to be the happiest version of yourself and to view the world around you25043_Leaves with different eyes. Pray without ceasing. Give thanks…in ALL circumstances, even if you aren’t quite where you’d like to be yet, or if you don’t see the end of the struggle you’re currently facing. Even when you feel like you don’t have anything to be thankful for right now. To recognize what God is doing in your life, through His wisdom and sovereignty, and to have the confidence to trust Him.

Thankfulness gives life to trust in God’s goodness. It gives us the confidence that He WILL DO what He says, that He is faithful, and He is up to something amazing.

Keeping it short and sweet for today- Happy Thanksgiving. Go ahead and eat that second slice of pie- you’ve been waiting all year for it. But remember to focus your heart on what really matters, and to give thanks to the LORD for His provision and His grace.
